What matters
Astryla makes the great works of world literature audible — not as background, but as an experience that carries the meaning of a text.
Why two languages
Hearing and reading the same sentence in two languages side by side, you reach past the words to what lies behind them. Meaning appears in the distance between two versions — where a translation has to decide. That distance is what we make visible.
The language bridge
Original and new translation run side by side, sentence for sentence, bound to the same audio. The sentence being spoken lights up in both columns; one click switches the language mid-sentence without losing your place. Not a learning aid — the method itself.
Public domain, worldwide
We only record works that are in the public domain worldwide. That means no regional blocks, no licence windows, nothing disappearing from the catalogue. The value we add comes from the new translation and the production — not from renaming a work.
How an edition is made
Every edition has a full cast, a continuous ambient bed and cinematic sound design: an audio play, not a reading. The text is segmented sentence by sentence and then recorded — translated afresh for the edition, or left untouched where a work already stands in its original language. That is why sound and text line up exactly in every language.
Buy it once
No subscription. Buy an edition and it stays yours — reader and download, on every device. Where a work is divided into chapters, the first two are free: the decision comes after listening, not before.
The catalogue grows slowly, and deliberately.
